Font Lorry's gone all social →
Font Lorry has a twitter-feed to get short bits of news out to the sphere. Possible integration with the site coming up.
Font Lorry - Research
Ive put my screenshots for the web based stuff on picasa and added comments about it. Feel free to add your own. Would be good peer feedback.
I’m looking forward to designing it all out now. Got some good interest from people worldwide but a lot of questions. So things are moving, but its not as easy as I’d hoped. Eek.
Type has corrupted me
Carl Chin: So you're one of those blokes who has a few pints and suddenly Baskerville type fills your mind?
Nathan Monk: That's the one.
Font Lorry - The Aproval
Bal liked the idea. Jurassic Park.
Its been developing nicely. I’m in talks with my first bunch of contributors (is that th right word? Technically I’m an agent so would they be my acts? Nah, what would it be? Clients? Designers? I dunno. I ramble.) So it looks like I will have content. Bal has proposed some interesting concepts for adding in the future. Font Lorry is going to be...
Baskerville Project - The week that was.
Busy week on this one.
We pumped out our scene but also a montage showreel for millenium point (a huge think tank museum thing in Birmingham).
Tomorrow Smile goes on the radio (Radio WM) to talk about our experience on the project.
I put a blog out on typophile and it got handpicked! Awesome!
Longwill School for the Deaf - Development
This week we presented our site structure and ideas to Longwill. It seemed to go well.
We talked a lot about transparent flash video. If we pull this off, its going to be fantastic. Add this to the cutesy style based on iconic reference point of the school and we’re onto a winner.
We’ve looed at www.fireeagle.com and www.msdewey.com and they loved them. Now for us to take inspiration...
Open Advantage
I went with Smile to Open Advantage, BIADs snazzy service for open source software to discuss cms’. This of course is for longwill. Plone popped up but was told is hard to learn. This sounds like a challenge to me! I’ve skimmed the site and it looks like this piece of software runs half the web!
It’s all coming down to what they really need. Do they need 3rd party services?...
Type Pre-Launch
Smile had its first launch party tonight and it was awesome. Caroline, Alex, David, Laura (I think, I’m so sorry if this is wrong, and to be honest I’m pretty sure it is. I’m terrible with names.), Susan, Matt and I gathered at type and viewed the site then toasted to the the future.
This was a huge reward for us, and it felt good. So much has changed in the short space of time...
Twitter as an ecosystem
David Os (superstar tutor) no longer like twitter. Fact. He dislikes the fact that people tweet everything and that some use it as a semi-im client.
I think that although these are valid points, it misses out on twitters overall core strategy. Twitter has become an ecosystem. It is slow developing (when compared against other social networks) and its growth is based on its users. Thus these...
Clever joke or terrible mistake.
Just got CR’s latest blog entry, and I really hope it is a joke.
Perhaps playing on http://www.creativereview.co.uk/crblog/an-ordinary-world/ it uses horrible marketing slang such as “Leading ideation infonauts in a media neutral world”.
Get the sick-bag, right?
So days after it slags off barclaycard for its rebrand to a similar universal (cak) style it ‘rebrands’...
The Baskerville Super-Palette →
Found out how to link to kuler schemes and now I’m showing off Smile’s Baskerville palette.
Posterous, I may have misjudged you...
I have a potentially fantastic use for posterous. It’s so good, you’d think that that the service was made for it. I can’t talk too much about it, but if you guys that run this sweet little machine are watching, please start thinking about how users can integrate posterous into their own site! Maybe you would even want to talk about the project further with me so that we can push...
Longwill School for the Deaf - Immersion
Today I went along, with Smile, to Longwill School for the Deaf to start discussing the new project. We’re going to be creating a new website for the school, but hopefully it will be more than a website; it will change lives.
Its very exciting, and the partnership with Sony means that there are going to be all sorts of opportunities to get creative with web technologies.
The school...
